Purple Planet Packaging, a Coventry-based packaging company, has partnered with Green Rock Manufacturing Group with the aim of helping Green Rock create its own Planetware products. This product will be produced in the form of a 100% recyclable and compostable disposable cup.
Mark and Joanna Farr have been running Purple Planet Packaging since 2019, which was when they purchased the company from a Devon-based businessperson. Since the purchase, the company has grown from £120,000 turnover to £1.3 million. The developments within the company recently have been groundbreaking with the latest development highlighting the beginning of the next phase in the company’s growth. This growth will allow the company to grow and expand, offering new jobs and expanding its headquarters in the West Midlands.
This groundbreaking development is showcased with the new cup which significantly reduces plastic waste and provides consumers with an excellent plastic free alternative. The cup has PEFC certification, along with a certified plastic-free barrier. The company is also already receiving orders for the innovative new cup, from industries such as hospitality businesses, schools and colleges from a range of locations across the UK.
Mark Farr commented, “From day one, Joanna and I had a crystal-clear vision for Purple Planet Packaging. We aim to lead the charge towards a more sustainable future, all while celebrating and showcasing the unmatched excellence of British manufacturing. Considering the staggering 6.85 million disposable cups discarded daily in the UK, our ‘Made in Britain’ Planetware line is set to be a game-changer.”
He continued, “Our alliance with the prestigious UK-based Green Rock Manufacturing Group underscores our unwavering commitment to nurturing UK’s manufacturing potential. We have deep ties to the respected hospitality industry in Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands and our vision also includes forging strong relationships with other UK businesses. This product will be the first of many when it comes to the Planetware brand and we’re really excited by this next phase of our development as a business.”
